Welcome to Greenwood Drive Baptist Church website. We are a not-for-profit church in Canada. As a charity we seek to provide free practical and spiritual assistance to other people, both locally and globally.
Associates with our church have been helping people in our community through ESL (English as Second Language) classes. We have found that a great textbook to use for this is the Bible.
The Bible and the English language have greatly influenced each other. With the King James Version Translation of the Bible in 1611 the English language was dramatically impacted by the Bible. Many English expressions such as ‘turn the other cheek’, ‘go the extra mile’, ‘Good Samaritan’ and ‘pearly gates’ come from the Bible. Today, there are many English translations of the Bible, at different levels of English difficulty. Thus it provides an excellent resource to improve one’s English.
The mission of our online project is to give people around the world a no-cost opportunity to develop their English through articles based on Bible stories. This educational resource can be pursued at anyone’s individual pace. The various articles have different degrees of English difficulty. We also intend to develop audio files, so people can hear the pronunciation of English words. We hope that this resource can help you improve your English skills and become better informed of the Book that has greatly shaped the English language.
